The launch of the iPad seems to be a commercial success for Apple.

The Cupertino company announced it had sold over 300 000 iPad, the first day of its launch, the United States.

Initial estimates had forecast sales of between 250,000 and 350,000 units, throughout the weekend.

According to analysts of Wall Street, Apple would sell five million iPad the first year of launch.

"We believe that the iPad has the potential to become a high-volume device because it could revolutionize the publishing markets and games, not to mention laptops," said an analyst at Kaufman Brothers.
