Today T-Mobile announced a new T-Mobile myTouch 3G; the device will replace the
original myTouch 3G that launched last July and adds just a few minor hardware upgrades that we saw on the myTouch 3G Fender edition as well as some new software. It's a new phone, but T-Mobile has oddly decided to call it by the exact same name. To prevent confusion we're calling it the myTouch 3G 2010.
Available in black or white, the myTouch 3G 2010 will feature a 3.5mm headphone jack instead of the proprietary one found on the original. It also has more RAM (288MB) and ships with an 8GB microSD card instead of the 4GB microSD card that came with the original.
The device, manufactured by HTC, will also feature the Swype virtual keyboard application, also found on the Samsung Omnia II, that allows you to swipe your finger from one letter to another to type. Barcode Scanner, Music Player, myAccount, and Visual Voicemail applications will also come preloaded on the device.
All other features, like WiFi, aGPS, the 3.2 megapixel camera and 3.2-inch half-VGA 480 x 320 resolution display remain the same. The myTouch 3G 2010 is available online today and in T-Mobile stores for $149.99 with a 2-year service agreement.
